The Recover Clinic Outpatient Services

The Recover Clinic Assessment Service

The Recover Clinic offers a one-off assessment service for those struggling with eating disorders. The goal of the assessment is to offer our patients a treatment program suitable to treat their particular disorder. We will also collate further information from other medical and psychological providers when appropriate. For many this may be the first time they have sat down with a professional and we believe that this is essential that our patients feel heard, understood and supported. If you would like to make an appointment with a therapist or would like to find out more about this service, please call us today on 0845 603 6530.

The Recover Clinic Counselling Service

People struggling with eating disorders often try for long periods of time to manage and control their disorders unsuccessfully. Our counselling service is an opportunity to explore difficult issues and change destructive behaviours within a supported and safe environment. We know that making the decision to change can be difficult but our team is here to offer help and support to you or your loved ones when you feel ready. If you would like to talk to somebody about the possibility of having some counselling, please call one of our team today on 0845 603 6530.

The Recover Clinic Eating Disorders Therapy Groups

At The Recover Clinic we offer specialist eating disorder therapy groups which are available to men and women struggling with eating disorders: anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating.

The Recover Clinic eating disorder groups take a psychotherapeutic approach that empowers participants to access and express their thoughts and feelings. The groups help people to distinguish between healthy, positive thoughts and the sort of destructive, negative thinking caused by their eating disorder. The goal is to achieve personal validation through promoting self-expression and self-awareness, challenging cognitive distortions and replacing them with healthy, self-loving thoughts.

People sometimes find the thought of group therapy quite frightening but we find that when people use the support of the group to explore difficult issues, it can really boost their recovery. If you are interested in joining our eating disorders group or using our other outpatient services, call a member of the team today on 0845 603 6530.

The Recover Clinic Parent and Partners Workshops

An eating disorder is a difficult and frustrating illness to understand. Parents and partners frequently struggle in knowing how to respond and how to deal with their afflicted loved one. People often get a sense that their loved one has been taken hostage, or indeed they themselves are under the control of this illness that has the power to wreck and ravage lives.

The Recover Clinic offer a parent and partners workshop to those who would like to gain a better understanding of eating disorders and wish to gain a deeper insight in to an illness that this effecting someone that they love. Call a member of our team today if you would like to attend our next workshop on 0845 603 6530.

Pilates Classes

Many of the people that we work with struggle to develop a healthy relationship with exercise. Some do not exercise at all, while others use exercise as a form of abuse and exercise to excess. Our Pilates specialist shows people how to develop a healthy and spiritual connection between exercise and their bodies using both one to one and group classes. Many of the people we work with also benefit from the physical rehabilitation that Pilates encourages and so we feel that this can be an important element of many people’s recovery. If you are interested in speaking to someone about having an initial session, then please call us today on 0845 603 6530.

Nutritional Consultations

The Recover Clinic offer nutritional consultations and ongoing nutritional support to a number of our patients. When people have been living with an eating disorder for what is often many years, they frequently lose touch of what ‘normal eating’ is… so many have never had a positive relationship with food. Our nutritional consultant guides our patients through the basics of food as a form of ‘self-care’ and will offer people anything from basic guidelines to weekly meal plans, depending on the individuals need. If you are interested in nutritional support, then please call one of the team today on 0845 603 6530.
